Graham Everett - Safety, Health, Environment and Training Manager - PYBAR Orange

Graham Everett has seen a lot of changes at PYBAR. After 11 years with the company, he has witnessed it grow from a small business of just 32 employees to the progressive and dynamic company it is today, employing over 1000 people. “Even though we’ve grown very quickly we have still managed to maintain our can-do attitude and commitment to our core values and are now a major contracting company in a very competitive field,” says Graham.everett

Graham is the Safety, Health, Environment and Training Manager at PYBAR, a role he started in 11 years ago before a change for  six years as a Compliance and Project Manager, returning to his original role recently.  PYBAR’s strategy of role rotation & development allows staff  to broaden their experience, see things from other points of view and learn about the whole business, not just one element. “It was beneficial to be able to work in compliance and projects,” explains Graham. “I was able to see the operational issues at the on-site,  learn how we’ve implemented the SHE processes and gain an overall perspective of operational management. This is important as I now know how SHE affects the bottom line, providing me with a far more practical approach to the Safety and Training application”.

“People at PYBAR are proud to wear the uniform,
and I’m the first to say my blood runs blue and white." - Graham Everett

Back in the role of Health, Safety and Training Manager, Graham is proud of what he’s achieved with the company. “One of the most satisfying aspects is being able to help a young  person progress from an 18 year-old apprentice into a management role. To see an operator start “green” and a few years later, working safely as a senior operator, making a valued contribution not just to PYBAR, but to their families, our clients and the community at large. It makes me proud to think that I’ve been a part of helping grow  careers in an environment staff can also be very proud of.”

Graham believes the part of the secret to success at PYBAR is support and commitment. Support from a driven management team and an ongoing commitment to best practices and the highest safety standards. “People at PYBAR are proud to wear the uniform, and I’m the first to say my blood runs blue and white. Our slogan of “Right Partner – Right Choice identifies our continued flexibility, focus and dedication to achieving quality outcomes for our people, our business and our clients. This is not just a job for me – it’s a way of life.”

PYBAR encourages innovation.  Its all part of a commitment to career progression and as a management team, PYBAR understands some of the best ideas can come from the coalface.  As well as supporting Adam’s concepts – PYBAR have invested in his career, giving him a wide variety of training opportunities. “The company ensure their employees are qualified to do the job and I am currently completing my Diploma in Management.”

Before starting at PYBAR, Adam was operating shotcrete machinery nation-wide. His skills are in demand and since taking on a position at PYBAR, Adam has grown the shotcrete side of the business by ensuring that the equipment was suited to the task at hand - involving the upgrade and refurbishment of the existing fleet and developing purpose-built shotcrete delivery systems for PYBAR’s projects.

“We were only working on one shotcrete project when I started, we now have multiple sites. I’ve been given the opportunity to help develop this side of the business,” says Adam. “I’ve also been able to use my technical experience to work on some innovative R & D projects that will further expand PYBAR’s value-driven service to our mining and civil clients.”

Adam’s position at PYBAR is more than a job. It’s an arena to develop and showcase his skills and place to learn and grow both personally and in his chosen career.
